pre-production

I'm going to interview someone at a trading card game store.  I play and have played the same games that the people here have, but I wonder if we live completely different lifestyles.  When I think of trading card gamers I think of nerds per say; someone who doesn't drink, not exactly outgoing, disconnected from reality, and exceeds in school.
Making the person who I am going to interview comfortable is going to be important, the idea I had for doing so is to play the game that they are playing.  It will also add to the effect of the documentary because I'll be able to record the game itself and use it as visual effect in the video.
There are a lot of questions I would like to ask, but I really need to structure them.  Its important that I find out as much about this person as I possibly can.  Some questions I have so far are.
  • How are you today?
  • How long have you been playing card/board games?
    • What is your favorite game?
    • Who do you play these games with?
    • Have you ever played a game with someone you would not expect to play card/board games?
    • Have you tried getting other to play the game and/or are there requirements for the people you play with?
  • Have you ever done role-playing before?
    • If so does it create a disconnect from reality for you?
    • Does role-playing seem better than reality?
    • Do you feel you have more control?
  • Whats a typical Saturday night for you and your friends?
    • What are some variations to your Saturday nights?
    • Do you drink?
    • Have you ever gone to a party?
  •  How are your grades in school?
    • Between you and your friends who gets better grades?
    • Between you and you fellow peers who would you say get better grades?
    • What is the reason why you get the grades that you do?
Some of these questions will get weeded as I focus more on what the interview is going to be about, and some questions will be added.

(un)real video

I've been thinking about going to either Sundays to see kids about skateboarding (I know its a big topic already) or going to the school on campus. The only other thing I can think of is going to schools and asking about after school programs like clubs and sports.
I'm not quite sure if I'd want to interview a younger student or an older one.  My main concern is how the parents will think of me when I tell them about it.  This is one of the more weird/interesting things I've ever had to do for an education class.
