1. PERSONAL:
I love to play card games, but other view it as a geeky thing to do; including myself at times. There is a card shop I went to, I wanted to see if it would be a good environment to play. This interview is my mission to find out if everyone who plays card games is indeed "geeky" and to see if this card shop is a place I would play at.
2. WORKING STATEMENT/HYPOTHESIS:
In my life I believe that most people who play card games and board games are well educated and on their way to getting a good job. I'd believe that they have one essential group of friends and do not go out and drink. My video will show this action by asking the player about themselves, see how they respond to the generalizations. I want the audience to understand that gamers are indeed human too.
3. RESEARCH:
I have a large array of knowledge when it comes to gamer, being that I am one myself. I however was not the top of my class in grade school; the real gamers were. I'm already aware of the way non-gamers view gamers as "lame." In the video though I might be looking for a non-gamer to make comments on how they feel about gamers. After all the research I have done I wonder about the interpersonal relationships between gamers and non-gamers.
4. ANXIETIES:
I find it difficult to ask random people questions, and its hard to find a person who will want to be super involved in an interview. My idea is realistic, but its really hard to do. To get honest answers from others I feel as though I'd have to get on a friendly/personal level with them. I wish I had more time to do this, I wish I had more resources available to me. I would like to have multiple cameras during the interview, but that is not going to happen.
5. TOPIC:
This documentary asks if gamers are in fact geniuses with bright futures, or are they just regular people trying to live their lives in happiness. Taking in factors like drinking, friends, and grades in school I will find out if the average gamer, is really the average geek.
6. BACKGROUND:
The audience will just need to know that most people who play card/board gamers are considered smart nerds.
